Frequently Asked Questions
DO YOU TEST FOR HEAVY METALS AND PESTICIDES?
We take the testing of our mushrooms for heavy metals and pesticides extremely seriously. All of our products are rigorously tested by third-party testing lab Eurofins Scientific to ensure quality, purity and safety. Many consider Eurofins the Gold Standard when it comes to nutritional and supplement testing.
DO YOU USE 100% MUSHROOM FRUITING BODY IN YOUR EXTRACTS?
Our mushroom extracts are sourced exclusively from whole mushroom fruiting bodies, not mycelium. We believe this provides a superior product in terms of quality and efficacy. Fruiting body extracts are more expensive, but it’s a cost we gladly bear, because at Shroomex we don’t compromise on quality.
HOW ARE YOUR MUSHROOMS GROWN?
As mushroom growers ourselves, we understand the importance of quality and sustainable sourcing. Not all mushrooms are grown equally. This is why we proudly partnered with carefully selected mushroom farms around the globe that share our commitment to excellence.
We work closely with our partner farms to ensure they adhere to the highest standards of organic cultivation and sustainable practices. In doing so, we form personal relationships with native mushroom farmers, gaining a deep understanding of their mushroom growing methods and techniques. Seeing with our own eyes that the correct growing standards and procedures are followed.
All our mushrooms are grown organically with USDA and EU organic certifications, and we only select fruiting bodies to produce our extracts. We prioritise quality and sustainability at every stage of our production process. Most importantly, we don’t cut corners in order to save on costs, it’s just not our style.
DO YOU TEST FOR ACTIVE COMPOUNDS LIKE BETA-GLUCAN?
Shroomex conducts some of the most comprehensive third-party testing of any company out there, scrutinising everything throughout the production process to ensure we have the cleanest and most potent extracts available. This includes testing for key active compounds like beta-glucans, in addition to our standard heavy metals and pesticides testing.
Our extracts are standardised to contain a high concentration of beta-glucans, with detailed information about our testing and analysis published on our website.
WHAT EXTRACTION PROCESS DO YOU USE?
We use a dual extraction process to extract both water soluble beta-glucans and alcohol soluble terpene compounds.
We use alcohol precipitation as a standard final step in the extraction process. Alcohol precipitation is not standard because it’s expensive but will yield a purer extract.
This process results in high-quality extracts with a standardised concentration of beta-glucans. For example, our Reishi extract has been verified by Eurofins to contain 64.1% beta-glucans, one of the highest you can find.
WHERE ARE SHROOMEX PRODUCTS MANUFACTURED?
All Shroomex products are made in the UK at certified GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) facilities, ensuring some of the highest manufacturing and safety standards in the world.
ARE YOUR MUSHROOMS SUPERIOR TO OTHER BRANDS?
The mission at Shroomex is to provide the highest quality mushroom products. We believe in transparency, going above and beyond to provide detailed third-party lab test results on our website for all our products to verify purity and potency.
Ultimately, this allows our customers to make their own minds up on whether we’re superior or not. The results speak for themselves.
WHY DON’T YOU TEST FOR TERPENES?
We use Eurofins Scientific to conduct third-party analysis of our products. They are the Gold Standard when it comes to nutritional and supplement testing.
Eurofins Scientific is ISO 17025 accredited to ensure the highest level of professionalism and compliance. This means that ISO 17025 labs will not take on projects without a sound scientific basis behind the validity of their results. Unfortunately, due to the lack of consensus on the testing methods and reference standards for terpenes, Eurofins can’t accurately quantify erinacines and hericenones in Lion's Mane in compliance with ISO 17025.
